3 PS Games that were a Flop

PlayStation games are among the most popular games worldwide since the gaming console was introduced to the video gaming industry. With the large number of PlayStation players out there counting up to millions, numerous games have been launched into the market with some being a commercial success while others have been flops and highly criticized due to not meeting public expectations. There have been many games that flopped both commercially and critically but perhaps the game that was regarded as a major flop in the PlayStation gaming industry was ‘Lair’. The game was developed by Factor 5 and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. Lair was officially released on August 31st 2007 in North America and it was the first PlayStation 3 video game to be played through the remote play function. It was hyped before its release mostly due to its graphical development and its creators. However, upon its release it was a major flop generating a lot of negative reviews. The most negative reviewed feature of the game was its control system which may have tremendously contributed to its flop. At first the game was hard to play since it lacked motion sensor control on the PS P gaming console. It also did not include the option of using the L2 and R2 button plus the right analogue stick therefore creating uproar among the game players. The developers reacted by updating the game making it possible to use some of the buttons that could not be used before. Another PlayStation game that was a major flop was ‘Haze’ which was released worldwide for the PlayStation 3 console on May 2008. The game has a first- person shooter plot and was published by Ubisoft and developed by Free Radical Design. Haze generated a lot of attention before it was released and it was at times referred as "Hallo killer" by sections of the media but as soon as it was released it received a lot of negative reviews from critics rating it as a huge disappointment. The game was mostly criticized for its whole development plot ranging from its characters to the story line. The gaming mechanics as well as its visual design was also cited as a big disappointment as it did not meet the expectations.
